Brazosport Independent School District is a school district based in Freeport, Texas (USA).

The district serves the cities, towns, and villages of Clute, Freeport, Jones Creek, Lake Jackson, Oyster Creek, Quintana, Richwood, and Surfside Beach. In addition it serves the unincorporated area of Turtle Cove.

It was formed in the year 1944 when all the existing school districts merged into one.

Many athletics events for the district take place at Hopper Field in Freeport. Brazosport College serves communities served by the district.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1][2]

Change in Superintendent

Karin Holacka was recently voted unanimously by the School Board for Superintendent. She was a superintendent for Keller ISD at Fort Worth area. If she is hired, her transition will be in June and will be replacing Joe Keith Ripple, who announced his retirement on January 4, 2011.[5]
